The Man - A Hunting Legend

A Successful Hunt is What it’s All About
Ed Sceery has been an avid outdoorsman all his life. He began hunting at age five and it has developed into his lifetime’s passion and profession. Although not widely known, he’s also a very avid fisherman and has caught many a fish — from the smallest, high country cutthroat trout to his World Record Pacific Sailfish. When not hunting or fishing, he might be found flying a plane through the mountains, punching cows, plowing his farm fields or fixing a windmill. While he never claimed to be a great athlete, in his younger days, he ran numerous marathons and competed in the ultimate IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii. Ed’s always tried to do his very best in everything he attempts.

Ed holds a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Animal Science and is a Distinguished Alumni of New Mexico State University. He enjoys teaching and has taught on the staff of several universities. He continues to serve as a volunteer teacher at Santa Fe Community College and the Santa Fe Indian School. He has also worked for the New Mexico Game & Fish Department. Among his business activities, he established Sceery Outdoors, LL in 1978 and developed an innovative line of hunting products. He has been awarded a number of U.S. Patents. Today, you will find many of his original product designs have been widely adopted and used by numerous other companies throughout the country. The successful hunting techniques and products, he personally developed, are now commonly used by hunters, professional guides and outfitters throughout North America and many foreign countries.

Ed has spent many years in the field conducting wildlife research. He has developed a very unique understanding of both animal behavior and how animals communicate. Through his research activities, he was the first person to discern and clearly describe how elk actually communicate. He is considered to be the foremost authority on elk, deer, and coyote vocalizations. He is also widely recognized for his hunting skills and knowledge of the interactions between livestock and wildlife and he has traveled throughout the country conducting seminars for both hunters and ranchers. Through over a full half century of work, Ed has come to be widely recognized as “A Hunting Legend”!
